The small town of Sulina is located at the mouth of the Danube River in the Black Sea, in the Danube Delta.

It can only be reached by boat/ship, but it is a fantastic place for holidays, nature, delta trips, relaxation and various activities (e.g. kayak trips on the Danube or in the Danube delta) almost all year round.

As Sulina is located in the south-east of Romania, it is very hot in summer (from 35 degrees), ideal for the 40 km beach at the Black Sea. In spring and autumn, the Danube Delta, with its wildlife and nature, the wild horses of the Letea Forest, the Cliff (Sulina’s shore) and much more invites you to stay.

In addition to the natural beauty, there is of course more to the Danube delta, e.g. lots of fish.

There are many traditional dishes and the preparation is not exactly the same as in German cuisine. But from my own experience, it is very, very tasty.

The early wake up was worth it. Sunrise boat tour was WOW.
Lazy day at the campsite today, did a bit of cleaning, will continue tomorrow. A few pics of the lovely Danube delta, could have done a lot more. It’s hard to believe that last week there were drone attacks 25 km away in a Ukrainian port. But we feel very safe here.”

This weekend is Easter in Romania, the Orthodox Easter festival.

The highlight is the Resurrection Mass on the night of Easter Sunday, when the faithful wait in front of the cathedrals with a candle in their hands for the Easter light … and then take it home to their own families.

The town of Sulina lies at the mouth of the Danube and at the same time on the Black Sea. It is not connected to the Romanian road network and can only be reached by ship or boat

The Danube Delta is an exotic landscape where you can observe over 1,800 plant species, 2,400 insect species, molluscs, reptiles, amphibians, 320 bird species and around 50 mammal species.
